Day 15: Not your momma's trailer park

K and I are becoming connoisseurs of New Zealand's "holiday parks" on this leg of the trip. Perhaps as a side effect of the large number of rental campervans in the country, there are holiday parks in just about every town with a road. I suppose that similar facilities must exist in the US, for touring retirees in their Winnebagos but here in New Zealand, they're big business, and as a result, they are surprisingly well kept. NZ has an organization called Qualmark that conducts regular inspections, and awards star ratings. The parks we've stayed at have all been scrupulously clean, with the exception of one, outside Auckland's airport, which had some pretty tacky fake wood paneling, and smelled a little mildewy.

My momma tells me you used to show up on a rusty bicycle. She didn't say nothing about no "camper-van".
