The notion of rolling down a hill in a giant rubber beach ball was so appealing, I couldn't pass it up. And we were driving right past it on our way out of Rotorua.
Zorb rides are on offer at the "Agrodome" which is a bizarre mix between a high adrenaline amusement park and a petting zoo. So you can take your pick between having a quiet moment with an ostrich, watching a sheep shearing, or getting dropped, flung, or blown around in countless innovative ways.
The actual zorb riding experience is a bit difficult to describe. The dry ride, where they strap you into a harness, wasn't available today, so I did the wet zorb, where they stuck me in the thing with about 10 gallons of warm water, and rolled me down a twisty track. It's sort of like being in a giant rubber washing machine on the back of a bumpy truck ride. K captured the whole thing on video, which we'll post when we can. My zorb was older and not very transparent, but if you look closely you can see me washing around in there. Big fun.
